Stan Stan Williams started triathon training in April 2003. He did two sprint triathlons and a half-ironman triathlon in the Spring of 2003. In October, he completed his first full Ironman finishing first in his age group.

Never an athlete in his youth, Stan decided to take up the sport of triathlon with the intentions of completeing an Ironman his first year. When he accompanied his wife Bobbie to the Hawaiian Ironman, he was inspired by the fitness and athleticism of senior male triathletes and decided if those men standing on the podium could do it he could also. With a severe lack of experience and athletic training Stan had a big challenge ahead of him.

His quick rise to Ironman triathlete is a testiment to what hard work, determination and dedication can accomplish. At age 70, Stan is an inspiration to senior athletes everywhere as he still trains and races long distance triathlons.

Bobbie and Stan are now the IronWilliams team, competeing in half and full ironman triathlons across the country. They are among the handful of elite seniors who are showing the world what can be achieved in one's "golden years ".
